This take on chocolate chip cookie is cleverly named because, as Sam of Sugar Spun Run writes, These cookies will consume your life, shrink your jeans, and steal your boyfriend (I wouldn’t put it past them, anyway)”. They’ll ruin your life!

A bit dramatic, perhaps, but we’re sure they’re delicious.

    Ingredients:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter melted and then cooled for at least 5 minutes* (226g)
    • 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar packed (300g)
    • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100g)
    • 2 large eggs room temperature preferred
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/4 cup maple syrup (60ml)
    • 3 1/4 cups all purpose flour (415g)
    • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 2 cups chocolate chips I used half regular semisweet chips and half mini semisweet chips

    Instructions:

    1. In a large bowl, stir together melted butter and sugars.

    2. Add eggs, one at a time, stirring until combined.

    3. Stir in vanilla extract and maple syrup.

    4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

    5. Gradually add flour mixture to wet ingredients, stirring until completely combined.

    6. Stir in chocolate chips.

    7. Cover bowl with clear wrap and allow to chill for at least 30 minutes (chilling!? I told you, this recipe is the worst.)

    8. While the dough is chilling, preheat oven to 350F (175C) and prepare cookie sheets by lining with parchment paper (if you don't have parchment paper, you can bake directly on an ungreased cookie sheet).

    9. Scoop about 2-2 1/2 Tablespoons of cookie dough and roll into balls, making them slightly taller than they are wide. Place them at least 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheet.

    10. Bake about 13 minutes (cookies will appear to be a bit underdone, but edges should be just beginning to turn golden brown).

    11. Allow cookies to cool completely on cookie sheet. If desired, gently press a few chocolate chips on top of the hot cookies.

    12. Keep unbaked cookie dough in fridge while waiting to put the next batch in the oven, and do not place cookie dough on a hot cookie sheet.

    6. Funfetti Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Funfetti Cake Batter Chocolate Chip Cookies mothers day

If you love funfetti cake AND chocolate chip cookies, we’re sure you’ll love this twist on the original.

Unlike other versions that only use funfetti sprinkles, this version repurposes the funfetti cake batter for cookies.

    Ingredients:
    • 3/4 cup butter, softened
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2/3 cup flour
    • 15.25 oz box funfetti dry cake mix
    • 1 tsp cornstarch
    • 2-3 tsp sprinkles
    • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips
    • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

After following the instructions that Life, Love & Sugar has provided, let the cookies cool for about 1 minute. Wire racks can be used to let the cookies cool a bit longer, if desired.

Leave it to Hershey’s to give a new twist on an old favorite.

This recipe substitutes Hershey’s cinnamon chips instead of chocolate chips. The recipe doesn’t change that much, but does include a little bit of light corn syrup, brown sugar, and pecans or walnuts finely ground.

    Ingredients:

    • 3/4 cup butter or margarine (1-1/2 sticks) , softened
    • 1 cup light brown sugar packed
    • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
    • 1 egg
    • 1-2/3 cups HERSHEY'S Cinnamon Chips (10-oz. pkg.), divided
    • 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking soda
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup pecans or walnuts finely ground
    • CINNAMON CHIPS DRIZZLE (recipe follows)

    Preparation:

    1. Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl until fluffy. Add corn syrup and egg; mix well.
    2. Place 1 cup cinnamon chips in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) 1 minute; stir. If necessary, microwave at MEDIUM an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, just until chips are melted when stirred. Stir melted chips into butter mixture.
    3. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add to cinnamon chips mixture, beating just until blended. Cover; refrigerate dough about 1 hour or until firm enough to handle.
    4. Heat oven to 350°F. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in nuts, lightly pressing nuts into dough. Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    5. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until golden around edges. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely. Drizzle with CINNAMON CHIPS DRIZZLE. Makes about 5 dozen cookies.

    CINNAMON CHIPS DRIZZLE:

Place remaining 2/3 cup cinnamon chips and 1-1/2 teaspoons shortening (do not use butter, margarine, spread or oil) in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM (50%) 1 minute; stir until chips are melted and mixture is smooth.
