Healthy Late Night Snack Ideas

Everyone has the night munchies every once in a while.

But whether you are feeling guilty for eating or just go to bed hungry instead - you are doing yourself an injustice. Why?

We all know that late-eating is quite bad for our diet and we won’t burn off the calories that we eat before bed because our metabolic rate slows down while sleeping.

That’s why our breakfast and lunch should be the biggest meals throughout the day because we are most active then and can more easily burn off those calories that go into our body.

The problem is that we often reach for snacks that are unhealthy and hard to digest.

Here are a few things you should avoid before you go to sleep:

  • Sugar and High carbs - It will boost the blood sugar levels, which is unhealthy.
  • Red meat – It will disrupt your digestive process.
  • Spicy food – It can upset your stomach.
  • Greasy food – It’s very hard to digest, and may upset your stomach; as well as make you feel sluggish.
  • Big portions – Try to avoid snacks over 200 calories at night

  • We’ve created this list of 10 healthy late night snacks that will have you going to bed with a feeling of fullness in your belly. These snacks are tasty and won’t cause those unwanted extra pounds.
